WTF Crush: Seth Rogen

I am queen of the WTF crush. I can’t tell you how many times in my life I have professed my adoration for someone to my friends and they’ve looked at me as though I might just need to be institutionalized.

Usually it’s because said crush isn’t attractive in the usual way, like say a George Clooney or a Ryan Gosling. There’s no need to explain why those two immediately trigger my drooling mechanism. But there are a slew of others who do.

Enter my WTF Crush series. This is where I’ll convince you that my crushes are indeed crush-worthy with a list of the reasons I adore them.

Today I bring you Seth Rogen. You see him as the scruffy, curly-haired, burn out from movies like Superbad, Pineapple Express, and Knocked Up. Someone who sits in the periphery to let the heartthrob do his thing. Or you see him as the goofy guy with a few extra pounds to lose that the hot girl magically falls for.

I say the hot girl should’ve opened her eyes and fell for him in the first place. Here’s why:

His giggle.

It’s absolutely impossible to be turned off by an infectious laugh. In fact, it’s a huge attraction–no matter how goofy it might be.

How awesome is that laugh? Wouldn’t you want to just spend all of your time looking for ways to force a giggle?

People with great laughs make me want to laugh. They’re fun and they don’t seem to take life too seriously, which brings me to my next point.

His sense of humor.

The guy is funny. You have to give him that. I’m sure you’ve seen some of his movies and there’s no way you didn’t laugh (even if it was in spite of yourself).

But did you know that he actually writes a lot of the the lines that you’re laughing at? He wrote both Superbad and Pineapple Express as well as some episodes for the hilarious and way too short-lived TV series Undeclared. He also wrote for Da Ali G Show.

And ummm, can we talk about his Vanity Fair spoof with Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, and Jason Segel?

He’s even funnier unscripted.

Let’s be honest. We don’t “know” actors. We know the persona they put on for us. But I always have a special fondness for celebrities who are charming and funny in interviews.

Seth falls into this category for me. He’s also a little awkward and self deprecating, which I find way more attractive than cockiness.

He cleans up nice.

While he might be scruffy and unkempt most of the time, the boy can be downright dapper when need be.

OK, so he’s still not George Clooney. But does everyone have to be?

I for one enjoy a funny (somewhat nerdy) guy who always has something interesting to say.

What about you? Do you have any crushes that some of (or maybe all of) your friends don’t understand?

I agree w/ you on this one!

  2. I completely agree with you. I think he has a sort of little-boy charm. 🙂 Sheepish, and sort of self-conscious, but with a really warm, deep laugh (favorite!). And he does clean up well!
