Samantha’s last day of summer camp was last Friday, which is making the onslaught of fall seem all the more real. I’m not really ready for cooler temperatures and structured schedules. I’m enjoying the easy breezy summer. I’m finally starting to embrace hair that can’t be tamed and dewy (aka sweaty) skin.
I’m pretty positive that once gloomy winter rears its head, I’m going to be grasping for any bit of summer I can find. That’s why my handmade finds today are all summer-themed works of art. I like the idea of hanging a little masterpiece in the house that I can look at when summer seems way too far away.
Any of these lovely finds would do just the trick…

June. How we got here so quickly, I’ll never understand.
My little Rosebud is wrapping up her school year. Her sixth birthday is taunting me from its spot two short rows down on my calendar. Summer vacation looms in that same spot and I’m wracking my brain to create an arsenal of options for my girl (who demands constant stimulation).
This weekend I’ll make it my mission to create a summer bucket list of sorts. A few must-do things that will keep my ladies occupied and me from losing my mind.
The first thing on my list is something that finds its way on my list every summer: a picnic. I want the sun on my cheeks, the grass in my toes, and my kids spilling drinks everywhere–though I wouldn’t mind leaving out the bugs that make Samantha shriek, thank you).

Here in New York we’ve gone from springy to sweat-tastic pretty much overnight. My girls have sweat-matted hair and are sticky to the touch. We’re pretty much melty piles of mush.
While they cool off with applesauce and fruit pops, I’m on the hunt for all things melty.

I couldn’t possibly decide which of these pieces is my favorite. Looking at each of them is like a mini escape from reality (and who doesn’t need that every now and then?). I can almost hear the crash of the waves and the sea breeze on my sandy skin. If I could jump into this collection you better believe I would!

I promised a new column and here it is!
I’m a little obsessed with handmade items. They’re unique and one-of-a-kind and made with so much love. I also love to support small businesses, so it only made sense to start a column that celebrates handmade pieces.
Each week I’m going to choose a word and showcase handmade pieces related to that word. This week, I’ve got flowers on the brain so it’s all about floral.
1 Hopeless bra and knicker set :: 2 After Images iPhone case :: 3 Blue Birds Fly Boutique turban :: 4 Lana Stepul dress :: 5 Kailo Chic clutch :: 6 Jamie Lundberg stationery set :: 7 Kristin Larson Jewelry necklace
Next week’s word: summertime. If you have handmade pieces that relate to the word in any way email me at email@example.com for a chance to be featured in next week’s spotlight!
